Getting Beirut ready for a night to remember

LAU will hold its first Lebanon-based fundraising gala dinner in Beirut later this month. Under the banner of “Partnered for Excellence,” the grand event will take place at the Beirut International Exhibition and Leisure Center’s (Biel) Pavillon Royal Hall on Friday, March 23 with all of the proceeds to support scholarships for needy and deserving students.

An organizing committee was formed consisting of members of the university’s administration and hospitality teams, as well as Advancement division members from development, university relations, marketing and communication, alumni, and advancement services. The committee has met on a regular basis in recent weeks to organize and arange everything from sponsorships to invitation design; entertainment and giveaways.

The evening’s program will include extensive entertainment, including singer Manel El Mallat, singer and saxophonist Raja Rayes, violinist Jihad Akl, as well as a professional band. Representatives from London’s Sotheby’s Auction House will be on hand to conduct an auction during the event that will directly benefit student scholarships and support.

The Beirut gala was a natural outgrowth of the two highly successful galas that LAU produced to raise financial support and awareness for the university in New York in 2010 and 2011. The Beirut gala, like the previous two galas in New York, will offer a prime opportunity for friends and constituents of the university to enjoy a wonderful evening while supporting LAU and the important work that it does educating students from the region and around the world.

Tables fom the event have been selling quickly and everything is coming together well for a wonderful evening. Stay tuned next month for more information and photos about this important event.
