The Lebanon development team
In 2010, LAU will continue to devote its energy to The Legacy and the Promise, the first comprehensive campaign in the university’s long history, and much of that effort will rely on Lebanon’s capable development team, led by Samir Kadi in Beirut.

Samir, who is the assistant vice president in charge of the Lebanon-based development team, has been at LAU for nearly four years, joining the university after starting his career in operations and support and entering the world of alumni affairs and development. Samir worked in those fields for his alma mater, the American University of Beirut, after earning an MBA there.
Today, as the head of the development office in Beirut, he coordinates LAU’s efforts to reach donors throughout the Middle East and Europe. He and his team regularly traverse the region to meet with donors and friends of the university. His team also spearheaded the university’s successful Bench and Seat Campaign and has instituted LAU’s new school-based giving initative.
The team also includes Rami Majzoub,Noureldeen Alokaily, Nicole Barghoud, Lana Abou Teen, and Rita Sayah. Noureldeen, the associate director, and Rami, the assistant director, focus their attention on specific school-based giving. Rami is in charge of raising funds for the School of Business while Noureldeen focuses on the schools of medicine, nursing and pharmacy.
Nicole and Lana, both of whom earned degrees at LAU and joined the development team in 2007, each conduct frequent cultivation visits and face-to-face meetings with donors and potential donors, while also researching new prospects among individuals and groups that could be interested in LAU’s mission. Lana also manages the annual fund for the region as well.
Rita, who is based in Byblos, handles much of the research in addition to being the point person for the team’s valuable global communications efforts.
The Lebanon-based development team has produced incredible results for the university, helping ensure that the comprehensive campaign would raise millions for LAU’s infrastructure and education programs. With a renewed annual fund effort and close cooperation with LAU’s schools and institutes, the development team will continue to produce success.
