Creating a new landscape for learning
During the seven years that the University Advancement division has been in existence LAU’s fundraising organization, in conjunction with the university’s strategic plan, developed into a flourishing organization that secures invaluable funding from across the globe and supports the university and its students.
Over this time period LAU implemented the first comprehensive fundraising campaign in its long history. Known as The Legacy and the Promise, this five-year campaign was so successful that it exceeded its $65 million goal a full year ahead of schedule.
“VP Richard Rumsey’s hard work on the Legacy and Promise campaign, and on behalf of our university in general, was great and extremely positive,” said President Jabbra.
With funding sources stretching from the California coast to the Arabian Peninsula—from private, public, and corporate sources—LAU’s development teams in both Lebanon and the United States travel the world to gain the funding necessary to help make this world-class institution grow, and to enable all worthy students, regardless of financial status, to attend LAU.
In recent years LAU has engaged in new ways of appealing to donors as well. Thanks to the hard work of Advancement team members in both Lebanon and the United States the university has held three major gala events each of the last three years. These galas have strengthened LAU’s connection to our existing constituents as well as introduced new ones to the family, all while raising millions of dollars to support financial aid and scholarship efforts for deserving students.
“I’m exceedingly proud of what the development teams have been able to accomplish over the past several years,” Rumsey said. “Their leadership and hard work, along with the remarkable leadership of President Jabbra, has paid huge dividends to LAU.”
