Expanding boundaries for the comprehensive campaign one year on
Almost exactly a year ago, LAU publicly launched its first comprehensive fundraising campaign, The Legacy and the Promise. In the time since that gala event in Beirut on October 31, 2008 the university has brought the campaign to the world, holding regional launchings in Los Angeles, the Eastern Provinces of Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
These multiple worldwide launchings are a significant example of just how global an institution LAU is. Because the university’s alumni are spread out in the Middle East and North America, LAU has the opportunity to take its message wherever Lebanese live away from home. These mini-launches are an opportunity for the university’s friends to celebrate the success, accomplishments and promise of the university.
The campaign has been very successful despite the recession of the last year, with over $41 million raised thanks to the efforts of advancement staff. To keep the campaign’s momentum going, additional campaign launches are scheduled for Riyadh, the Saudi Arabian capital, Kuwait and beyond during the second year of the effort.
