We did it!
It gives me great pleasure to inform the LAU community that our comprehensive campaign, The Legacy and the Promise, has proven successful. We haveexceeded our goal of raising $65 million—and we did it a full year in advance.
Since we began planning this campaign with the 2005 strategic plan, and since announcing our campaign to the public in 2008, we have received strong support from a variety of individuals, companies, charitable organizations and government agencies all over the world. All of them saw, as all of us do, the extraordinary potential our university has been fulfilling for so long.
The aim of The Legacy and the Promise is nothing less than to transform our university. The support we have received has helped us perform vital improvements to the facilities of our campuses as a way to ultimately provide our students, current and future, with the benefit of a truly world-class institution that will continue to make a strong contribution to the future of Lebanon and the world at large. Students have already seen the results of this campaign, including the smart classrooms that have populated our campuses, the addition of the Frem Civic Center and the Chagoury medical building on the Byblos campus, as well as more merit and need based scholarships and an increased financial aid budget.
The entire community can rest assured that LAU will continue on its path upward, whether or not there is a public fundraising campaign. As far as I am concerned, the university will always campaign for the cause of education in the Middle East and beyond.
Sincerely,
